【摘要】:Thedegreeofimagetransferredbyrubbing(crock)fromacopyorprintedimagecanbeaffectedbyvariousfactorsincludingthetypeofmachine,theconditionofthemachine,suppliesemployed,timesinceimaging(ribbons)andenvironmentalconditions.Asmanyaspossibleofthesevariablesshouldbecontrolledduringthetest.Acontrolsamplewithknowncharacteristics,ifavailable,shouldberunalongwiththetestsamples.Thetestisdesignedtosimulatethetypeofdamageresultingfrompaperrubbingagainsttheprintedimage.Thetestmethodcanbeusedforcontrolofproductqualityaswellasaresearchanddevelopmenttool.Themethodisadaptabletoimagesproducedfrommosttypesofimpactandnon-impactprintersandcopiers.Twodifferentprintersemployingthesametechnologymayyieldprintswithvariationsinopticaldensities.Itmaybepossibletoremovemoretonerorinkfromthedarkerimageyettheperformanceofthesmudgedimagemaybesatisfactory.Anoptionalevaluationprocedureisavailablewherebythefunctionalpropertiesofthesmudgedorabradedimageisexaminedifthisisofprimaryconcern.1.1Thistestmethoddescribesaprocedurefordeterminingtheamountofimagetransferredontothesurfaceofawhiteclothbyrubbing.1.2Thetestmethodcanbeemployedtoevaluatetheabrasionandsmudgeresistanceofbusinessimagingproductsproducedbyimpactprinters,thermaltransferprinters,andnon-impactprintersorcopiers.1.3Thetestmethodcanbeusedtoevaluatetheamountofmaterialremovedfromthesample(smudgeorcrock).Testingfocusesondeterminingtheamountofmaterialdepositedonthecrockmeterclothorredepositedinanewlocationonthesample.Thetestmethodcanalsobeemployedtomeasureperformancecharacteristicsforaproduct.Theusershouldselecttestequipmentwhichisappropriateformeasuringtheabrasiontothesamples.Samplesaretestedbeforeandafterrubbingandcomparisonsofresultsmade.Inthistestmethodproductperformanceevaluationsareoptional.1.4OthertestmethodsemployingtheSutherlandrubtester,TaberAbraderandGavartiGA-C.A.T.canbeemployedtoevaluatethesmudgeandabrasioncharacteristics.ResultsbytheseunitsarenotnecessarilyequivalenttothoseobtainedwiththeCrockmeter.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
